SOUTHWEST FLORIDA PASTEL SOCIETY SIGNATURE EVENT

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA PASTEL SOCIETY SIGNATURE EVENT
ALLA PRIMA
PASTEL PAINTING IN THE ROUND
SUNDAY, MARCH 9, 2008, 4 -7 PM
ART LEAGUE OF BONITA SPRINGS, 26100 OLD RT 41, BONITA SPRINGS.

THE SIGNATURE FUND RAISING EVENT OF THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA PASTEL SOCIETY WILL BE HELD AT THE ART LEAGUE OF BONITA SPRINGS ON SUNDAY MARCH 9 TH FROM 4 – 7 PM.

THE PASTEL SOCIETY RAISES FUNDS TO SUPPORT A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE INCLUDINGTHE SAM PLATT SCHOLARSHIP THAT WILL BE AWARDED TO STUDENTS LIVING IN LEE, CHARLOTTE AND COLLIER COUNTIES, THE THREE COUNTIES THAT ENCOMPASS THE MAJORITY OF OUR MEMBERSHIP.

THIS UNIQUE ENTERTAINING PROGRAM FEATURES FIVE ACCOMPLISHED AND AWARD WINNING PASTEL PAINTERS, ROBERT CARSTEN PSA, MARY PRITCHARD KAREN BAKER, PAGE PENNA AND LINDA CHAMBERS WORKING IN CONCERT. THE PAINTERS, EXCEPT MR. CARSTEN, A NATIONALLY KNOWN ARTIST FROM VERMONT AND MS PRITCHARD FROM THE EASTERN SHORE OF MARYLAND, WILL BE TRAVELING TO FLORIDA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT, THE OTHER THREE ARE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA PASTEL SOCIETY. MS. BAKER, FROM TAMPA, IS INSTRUMENTAL IN FORMING A PASTEL SOCIETY IN HER AREA.

FIVE PAINTINGS WILL BE CREATED AS COLLABORATIVE WORKS, WITH EACH PAINTING MOVING AT TIMED INTERVALS SO THE NEXT ARTIST CAN WORK ON EACH PAINTING. THE PAINTINGS WILL BE AUCTIONED UPON COMPLETION.
PROCEEDS WILL SUPPORT THE ABOVE MENTIONED PROJECTS ALONG WITH A CONTRIBUTION TO THE ART LEAGUE OF BONITA SPRINGS.

ADDITIONALLY, THE MEMBERS’ SHOW OF THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA PASTEL SOCIETY WILL BE ON DISPLAY. ATTENDEES WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW OTHER WORKS BY PAST AND PRESENT PARTICANTS OF ALLA PRIMA AS WELL AS OTHER TALENTED MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY.

ADVANCE TICKETS ARE $25.00AT THE DOOR $30.00 REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED.

Pastel Society meeting

The next meeting of the Pastel Society of Tampa Bay will be Tuesday,February 12Th, at 7:30 pm at the newly constructed studio of artist Ernie Simmons, 602 Douglas Ave. , Dunedin.

The program will be about the business of art and we will see how Ernie has his studio set up. Visit his website aternestsimmons.com to learn more about his successful art career.

Pastel in Palm Harbor Show
This show features the Pastel Society of Tampa Bay artists and their work.The opening reception will have classical guitar, and tastings of Van Gough Fine Arts Vodka plus hors d'oeurves and a cash bar. The event is open to the public so please invite all your family and friends to attend!

Location: Old Palm Harbor Main Street, Harbor Hall
1190 Georgia Avenue, Palm Harbor 34683
(South of Nebraska between Alt. 19 and County Rd. 1)
(Old Palm Harbor Main Street was formerly the historic 1st United Methodist Church of Palm Harbor. Harbor Hall was added recently. The facility is available for weddings, meetings, etc.

Delivery of work: January 31, 2008 from 9am till noon, delivery to Harbor Hall
Dates: Opening Reception from 6 pm to 8 pm February 1st, 2008
The show will end February 8th, 2008
Participation and Cost: Each pastelist may enter one piece of work $5 for members and $8 for non-members
No prizes will be awarded, exhibit only
No Pick-up: All work will be taken to the Dunedin Community Center and re-hung to continue our show.

Happy New Year and reminder

Pastelists, Happy New Year! This is just a reminder that next Wednesday, Jan. 9th, our show will be closing at the Octagon Gallery. THURSDAY, JANUARY 10TH is the pick-up date for all work between 9 am and noon. If you can't come at this time please arrange for someone to pick up your work for you. Please email me if no arrangements can be made and we'll work something out. Keep painting! Our next exhibit will be Feb. 1st in Palm Harbor.
